  Asher O'Hara threw a 51-yard touchdown pass to Pierre Williams to cap the scoring with 6:28 to play and No. 2 seed Sacramento State beat Richmond 38-31 Saturday in the second round of the FCS playoffs. Sacramento State (12-0), ranked No. 2 in the FCS coaches poll, extended its program record for single-season wins. The Hornets play No. 7-seed Incarnate Word in the quarterfinals. Leroy Henley caught a 21-yard touchdown pass from Reece Udinski to give the Spiders a 31-24 lead going into the fourth quarter but Jake Dunniway hit Marshel Martin for a 19-yard TD and, after Richmond missed a 46-yard field-goal attempt, Williams slipped behind a pair of defenders and was hit in stride by O'Hara's pass for the winning touchdown catch-and-run.

Williams finished with four receptions for 107 yards and Martin caught 10 passes for 148 yards and two touchdowns for Sacramento State. The duo is the first to each have at least 100 yards receiving in the same game for the Hornets since the 2019 season. O'Hara threw a 5-yard TD pass to Martin that opened the scoring midway through the first quarter but Reece Udinski sandwiched touchdown passes of 25 yards to Jasiah Williams and 24 yards to Henley around a 1-yard scoring run by Savon Smith to give Richmond (9-4) a 21-7 lead early in the second quarter. Elijah Tau-Tolliver returned the second-half kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown that gave the Hornets a 24-21 lead. Udinski finished 21-of-39 passing for 216 yards and three touchdowns for Richmond.   2022 ALL-BIG SKY FIRST TEAM: OLB Marte Mapu (SAC),...Mapu joins linebacker Matt Logue (2005) as the only players in school history to be named Big Sky Defensive Player of the Year. The senior ranked second on the team with 65 total tackles, including 6.5 for loss and one sack. He tied for the team lead with a pair of interceptions, added four pass breakups, two quarterback hurries and forced a fumble. Mapu, who started all 11 games during the year, had at least three tackles in each game and tallied five or more in eight contests.   2022 ALL-BIG SKY FIRST TEAM: WR Pierre Williams (SAC),...Williams earned first team honors for the third straight season and follows Roberts (1998-2000) and wide receiver Fred Amey (2002-04) as the only players in school history to do so. This season, Williams caught 35 passes for 514 yards and six touchdowns. He currently ranks second in school history with 2,762 career receiving yards, is tied for third with 21 touchdowns and is fourth with 170 receptions.   2022 ALL-BIG SKY FIRST TEAM: K Kyle Sentkowski (SAC),...Sentkowski earned his second consecutive first team award. The senior kicker made 14-of-17 field goal attempts during the season, including a stretch of 13 in a row. He also set the school single season record with 59 made PATs. The Blaine, Wash., native is now sixth in school history with 208 career points. He also ranks third with 35 career field goals and 103 extra points.   2022 ALL-BIG SKY FIRST TEAM: ILB Armon Bailey (SAC),...Armon Bailey was the team's second first team selection on defense. The linebacker set career highs with 78 total tackles including 12.5 TFLs and six sacks to lead the team in all three categories. Bailey added four pass breakups, three quarterback hurries, forced two fumbles and recovered one. The Vallejo, Calif., native was credited with at least four tackles in all 11 games and had seven or more in eight of the final nine games of the season. Weldon, a senior from Compton, Calif., returned to the all-Big Sky teams after earning second team honors a year ago.   2022 ALL-BIG SKY THIRD TEAM: RB & PR Marcus Fulcher (SAC),...Fulcher earned the honor as both a running back and punt returner. The versatile junior scored eight touchdowns during the year and had 706 all-purpose yards. He rushed for 349 yards and six touchdowns on 60 attempts (5.8 yards per carry) and also caught 33 passes for 228 yards and two scores.   2022 ALL-BIG SKY FIRST TEAM: AP Asher O'Hara (SAC),...O'Hara was named all-league as an all-purpose player for the second straight season. The quarterback has been a touchdown machine this season, becoming the first player in school history to rush for at least one touchdown in all 11 regular season games. O'Hara finished the year with 19 rushing touchdowns which is tied for the second most in program history. He also threw for eight scores while completing 62-of-80 (.775) pass attempts during the season. The senior had two 100-yard rushing performances during the season, posting 101 yards against Utah Tech in the season opener and 129 against Idaho. He led the Hornets this season with 43 receptions, 587 yards and eight touchdowns. During the season, he caught at least five passes in five games and had touchdowns in six contests. The junior already owns all the career receiving records in Sacramento State history by a tight end and is currently seventh in the school record book with 1,786 career receiving yards.
